Barnard 68 is a dark molecular cloud located in the constellation Ophiuchus, and is one of the coldest and most isolated places in the universe. It is approximately 500 light-years away and half a light-year across, and is likely to collapse and form a new star system. Astronomers believe that molecular clouds like Barnard 68 are potential places for new stars to form.
